¡Ú STORY

A Tale of Friendship and Discovery
The Little Dragon tells the story of a baby dragon who falls from
the stars in a flaming egg that hatches in a dark cave.

When he is born he is cold and alone, but he is discovered by two
dragonflies that take him into warmth and light.
He notices that there are two dragonflies and only one baby dragon.
He yearns to find another just like himself.
The dragonflies agree to help him on his quest to find another dragon.
This quest takes them all on a fantastic musical journey to forest, sea,
city, and sky.
As they travel, as the dragon moves from place to place, the Collector
who spends his life trapping and hoarding rare creatures stalks the
Little Dragon to get him into his collection¡¦

¡Ú Introduction from the Artistic Director

We believe that stories told to us in our childhood are an integral part of
growing up and understanding the world.
These notes are designed to act as an aid to prepare your children for
the performance, so that their visit to our theatre will be a rich and
rewarding experience.
At the beginning of the performance we will make the theatre a friendly
and non-threatening environment.
The lights in the auditorium will be soft and warm, stars will sparkle in
the ceiling, the actors will be on the stage and visible as ordinary
people, and the sounds will be gentle and melodic.
As your children grow comfortable in the theatre, we will begin to take
them on an adventure full of beautiful images, fascinating creatures,
and, of course, a clear and simple story told with words, music, dance,
puppetry, and light.

The places we will visit together include:
Outer space - from where our dragon comes as a comet falling to the earth.
A beautiful cave - where the dragon grows inside the egg, and where he first meets
his friends the dragonflies.
The forest at night - where he meets and overcomes danger.
The Sea - with its myriad of brightly colored inhabitants.
The city - with its bright lights and music, where everything is not what it seems.
In each of these environments, we experience new creatures, songs, and images that illustrate
our little hero's quest.

We believe the performance will contribute to the growth of your child's imagination, English language skills, and cognitive abilities, while providing an impetus for an ongoing interest in live theatre.
We hope you and your children enjoy the show as much as we have enjoyed creating it for you.
